Counseling Reference Guide
A.S.K. M.E.

AskGreet the student(s) and ask their name(s); goal of 1 to 3 ratio per counselor.

See - if the person prayed with the speaker.

If they DID pray? Ask some of these questions:
• What keeps people from going to heaven?
• Why did Jesus die on the cross?
• What do you want God to do for you?
• How is it possible for someone to go to heaven?

Avoid “Yes” and “No” questions

If they DID NOT pray?
Ask some of the questions above to see if they understand the gospel.
• If you sense they do, ask if they would like to pray to receive Christ now. Let lead them in a simple prayer to receive Christ.
• If they don’t understand, then review the gospel (scroll down for scriptures or click link)
Scripture references: John - 3:16;19:17,30; 20:19-20; 3:36; 14:6; Romans - 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; 10:9

Know - If you think the person has trusted Christ, share with them assurance verses. Phrase it like this: “This is what God says about
someone who has truly believes in Christ.” John 10:27-29; 3:36; 5:24; 6:47; 11:25-26.

Mark Up - Make sure you fill out the decision card for the student.
• Please be neat and legible.
• Write as much information as possible (minimum: name, church and wristband number).
• Give the decision card to the exit coordinator
who will get it to the church or individual who will do follow-up with the new believer.

Encourage - the new believer to tell a friend and/or church leader of their decision. Encourage them to read the gospel of John, and to begin attending a Bible believing church. Encourage them to share their salvation story, click the button below.
